What are the health coverages available in Australia? What is OSHC?

OSHC health coverage

International students are required to take up the madatory Overseas Student Health Coverage (OSHC), which includes a basic cover for visits to the doctor, some hospital treatment, ambulance cover and limited medicines. The OSHC is often packaged together with your Letter of Offer issued by the University, and cost between AUD$400-700 per year.

Along with the OSHC, you may wish to consider purchasing private healthcare insurance to cover items that the OSHC does not cover.
