About the course

Philosophy examines fundamental questions of existence through critical thinking and argumentation, making it ideal for those contemplating life's profound issues. Our program specializes in continental philosophy, drawing on key texts from the European tradition by influential thinkers such as Nietzsche, Sartre, Deleuze, and de Beauvoir. We connect philosophy to real-world concerns by exploring films and artwork, discussing scientific and technological developments, debating ethical issues, and demonstrating the relevance of texts from centuries ago to contemporary politics. In Levels 1 and 2, students build a foundation in ancient and modern philosophy, including core ideas in ethics, epistemology (the nature of knowledge), and metaphysics (the nature of reality). At Levels 3 and 4, you specialize through interdisciplinary modules, studying existentialism in relation to culture, technology, and film, as well as topics in aesthetics and the philosophy of art. We encourage links between philosophy and other disciplines, such as politics, literature, environmental studies, psychology, and computer science.
