Biological Chemistry and Drug Discovery, BSc (Hons)

Drug discovery and biological chemistry integrate chemistry, pharmacology, and biology, employing techniques from molecular and chemical biology to develop new treatments for diseases. At the University of Dundee, the Drug Discovery Unit connects academic research with industry-scale drug development, focusing on combating infections and other conditions. This expertise informs the course, which begins with a broad foundation in life sciences during Levels 1 and 2, then advances to in-depth studies in biological chemistry and drug discovery at Levels 3 and 4.The first two years cover essential topics such as genetics, cell biology, biological organisation, and molecular mechanisms, while building practical skills in laboratory work, data analysis, and experiment design.
