About the course

Our flagship physics degree programme provides flexibility to explore areas such as Particle Physics and Quantum Technology, blending fundamental concepts with cutting-edge topics like sub-atomic particles and superfluids. This programme underpins modern society by examining matter, forces, and the universe. Students can tailor their studies through two options: selecting modules freely to broaden horizons, or following predefined pathways in Quantum Technology, Particle Physics, or Particle Physics with Theoretical Cosmology, chosen by the end of Year 1.In Year 1, all students undertake a core curriculum in mechanics, quantum physics, thermodynamics, and magnetism, complemented by advanced laboratory work. Year 2 introduces specialization in the latter term, while Years 3 and 4 allow deeper focus through elective modules and an independent research project. Pathway students take specific group projects, and all can opt for industry collaborations. Changes to modules or switching degrees are supported at key points.
