Human Geography, BA (Hons), with study abroad

This programme offers hands-on experience in how people interact with their environment, shaping communities, cultures, and economies, with a strong focus on fieldwork and insights from world-renowned lecturers at the multidisciplinary Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC). Students engage in diverse modules taught by experts in human geography, environmental studies, development, anthropology, political economy, and science and technology.In the first year, core modules introduce key themes in human geography and analytical skills, alongside options to explore other subjects like sociology or economics. The second year builds on this with modules on geography skills, research methods, and electives such as teaching in local schools. The third year involves studying abroad at partner universities to enhance global perspectives, while the final year culminates in a supervised dissertation and optional modules on topics like food security, health, and international field courses. Lancaster University strives to facilitate overseas placements but cannot guarantee them or cover related costs; alternatives are available if needed.
