This programme integrates social sciences and geography to offer hands-on experience in how people interact with their environment, shaping communities, cultures, and economies. Supported by world-class academics, students explore diverse modules in human, environmental, and political geography, alongside development studies and anthropology. Our strategic location between rural areas and cities like Liverpool and Manchester facilitates field trips to unique UK sites, such as the Lake District, and international destinations like Croatia. Access to advanced facilities and small class sizes ensures personalised guidance.In the first year, core modules introduce key themes and skills, with options to study additional subjects like sociology or economics. The second year builds on these with advanced techniques and choices, such as teaching geography in schools. Preparation for a paid third-year placement includes career advice on CVs and interviews. Returning for the fourth year, students undertake a dissertation on a chosen topic, potentially collaborating with businesses, and select from modules on topics like food security and global consumption.
