This program offers a distinctive integration of social sciences and geography, providing hands-on experience in how individuals interact with their environment to shape communities, cultures, and economies. Taught by world-class experts in human, environmental, and political geography, as well as development studies and related fields, students explore diverse modules at the Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC). Our strategic location between rural northern areas and vibrant cities like Liverpool and Manchester facilitates unique field trips to sites such as Manchester city centre, the Cumbrian coast, and international destinations like Croatia, supported by state-of-the-art facilities and small class sizes for personalized guidance.In the first year, students gain a foundational understanding of human geography themes and can study additional subjects like sociology or economics. The second year focuses on core skills in human geography and research, with options like teaching in local schools. The third year culminates in a supervised dissertation on a chosen topic, potentially with business collaboration, alongside electives in areas such as food security, health, and global consumption, including field courses to Croatia and Switzerland.
