Data science is essential in today's world, and our programme provides a robust foundation in this dynamic, high-demand field to support your career goals. It offers a comprehensive education in computer science and statistics, blending theoretical and practical methods through advanced resources and expert instruction from the School of Computing and Communications and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. In your first year, you'll build core knowledge in computer science fundamentals, mathematical concepts, and data analysis skills. The second year deepens expertise in linear algebra, probability, statistics, programming, and software design, including a Project Skills module for real-world problem-solving. A 12-month third-year placement applies these skills in professional settings, with monthly reflections, while the final year allows specialisation in advanced modules and a major individual project, guided by academics. We strive to secure placements and are pursuing accreditation from bodies like the British Computer Society and Royal Statistical Society. If a placement isn't secured, you can transition to a non-placement path.
