Our four-year MSci in Biomedicine is designed for individuals with a keen interest in human life processes and disease. This integrated master’s programme comprises three years of undergraduate study followed by a fourth year at master’s level, which can enhance career prospects or provide insight into research paths. Offering greater flexibility than our IBMS-accredited BSc in Biomedical Science, it allows students to customise their studies based on personal and professional interests, focusing on core subjects like biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, and physiology. These are explored with an emphasis on the molecular mechanisms underlying life processes and disease. In the first year, students build a solid foundation through 15 core modules, including Biomedical Science in Practice, Infection and Immunity, and Protein Biochemistry. The second and third years include essential modules such as Medical Microbiology and Genetics, with options like Cellular Pathology and DNA Technology. Students may graduate with a BSc after three years or progress to the MSci if criteria are met. Throughout, participants engage in laboratory projects, gain training in modern biomedical techniques, and benefit from internationally recognised academics, supported by over £4 million in state-of-the-art facilities.
