Robotic and Mechatronic Engineering, BEng (Hons), with industry placement

87.9% of our Engineering research outputs were assessed as world-leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021). Our Robotics and Mechatronics course emphasises practical engineering, covering mechatronics, autonomous vehicles, embedded systems, robotics, and control engineering. Students explore theoretical problem-solving, gain hands-on lab experience with industrial equipment like mechatronics platforms, mobile robots, manipulators, and 3D printers, and apply skills through individual and group projects. Graduates are prepared for careers in robotics and automation across space technologies, manufacturing, automotive, transport, IoT, communications, and aerospace.An optional industrial placement enhances employability, supported by our careers team for applications and interviews; unsuccessful applicants transfer to the non-placement version. The course holds respected industry accreditation and is offered as a three-year BEng, four-year MEng, or five-year MEng with placement. Located on our green campus near the South Downs, Brighton & Hove, Gatwick Airport, and London, the University of Sussex fosters innovation and global impact.
