Mechanical Engineering, BEng (Hons), with industry placement

At the University of Sussex, 87.9% of our Engineering research outputs were rated world-leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021). This MEng degree equips students to lead multidisciplinary teams in developing complex systems, such as sustainable power generation, automotive power-trains, and aircraft jet engines. A placement year provides hands-on industry experience with ongoing support, while our world-class research from groups like Dynamics, Control and Vehicle, and Thermo-Fluid Mechanics enriches teaching. Students access advanced facilities in Future Technologies Labs, including computer suites, robotics, CNC machines, and 3D printers, with opportunities to specialize in areas like CAD, computational fluid dynamics, and projects such as Formula Student.The course is accredited, giving a competitive career edge, and is available as a four-year MEng or with a placement year.
