This Mathematics course explores how maths addresses real-world challenges, such as infectious disease dynamics, social media trends, and queue behaviour. You'll collaborate with experts impacting areas like COVID forecasting and flood prediction. The first year covers deriving and proving core results, followed by topics including mathematical biology, cryptography, probability, financial mathematics, and partial differential equations. Flexible structure allows focus on interests alongside a strong foundation, using tools like MATLAB, Python, and R, with optional placements.Our close-knit department offers personalised lecturer support, academic advising, employer engagement, and a dedicated careers advisor. The integrated Master's year builds advanced skills for research or fields like data science and finance. Accredited by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications for Chartered Mathematician status. Available as MMath or three-year BSc, with research placements, on our green campus near the South Downs, Brighton & Hove, Gatwick, and London.
