About the course

Climate change profoundly influences every facet of daily life, from homes and health to global economies, with rising temperatures and extreme weather causing widespread devastation. This course targets students passionate about climate impacts and responses, particularly through lenses of politics, activism, and human rights rather than natural sciences. It emphasizes climate justice, addressing social equity, historical accountability, and economic shifts essential for policymakers, NGOs, activists, and corporations. Leveraging the University of Sussex's expertise in development, sustainability, and social justice, students will explore colonial origins of environmental conflicts, proposed crisis solutions, collaborative strategies with peers, creative communication methods like podcasting and campaigning, and insights from external changemakers. The interactive BA program fosters action-oriented learning inside and outside the classroom, including field trips, rewilding site visits, and sessions in the campus Forest Food Garden, equipping graduates to drive real-world change.
