About the course

The University of St Andrews provides a distinctive five-year MBChB Medicine degree (ScotCOM), designed to meet the needs of aspiring medical professionals and modern healthcare systems. This programme emphasises community-based clinical teaching, offering students a comprehensive understanding of primary care while ensuring exposure to hospital-based services. It aims to produce graduates equipped for high-demand specialties, address regional healthcare needs, and promote advancements in medical and healthcare improvement practices. As with all new UK medical programmes, the St Andrews MBChB (ScotCOM) must successfully complete the General Medical Council’s quality assurance process. This course is available only to applicants with Home or RUK (rest of UK) fee status; those classified as Overseas are ineligible and encouraged to consider the Medicine BSc (Hons) programme. For additional details, visit our website at https://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/subjects/medicine/medicine-mbchb-scotcom/. Note that this course does not award Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
