Diagnostic Radiography involves using various forms of radiation to generate high-quality images that support the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and diseases. This course aims to equip graduates for registration as Diagnostic Radiographers with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), professional employment, and membership in the Society of Radiographers. It focuses on developing specialised radiography skills alongside transferable healthcare and employability competencies, enabling students to apply theoretical knowledge in clinical settings through diverse modules and placement experiences. Students learn collaboratively from peers, other health professionals, interprofessional events, lecturers, clinical experts, and service users.Assessment includes formative and summative tasks, such as computer-based evaluations for broad knowledge, written assignments and case studies for in-depth understanding, electronic posters in the second year for alternative communication skills, and final-year project presentations to enhance employability. Practical competence is evaluated through electronic portfolios and viva assessments in medical imaging modules, covering the full spectrum of diagnostic radiography practice.
