**Theology and Religious Studies** encompasses the study of religion, religions, the Bible, and theology in relation to politics, history, literature, philosophy, art, culture, personal belief, and practice. We are passionate about exploring religion's influence on political and cultural life. Students examine religion's role in humanity's rich textual, cultural, artistic, and philosophical heritage, as well as its impact on politics, conflict, and social attitudes. The programme can introduce a variety of religions or focus on the Christian tradition.**English Language and Linguistics** combines the study of English's history, structure, and meaning to reveal insights into our culture, society, and identity. Over 50 years, we developed the world-leading *Historical Thesaurus of English*. Students gain access to two dedicated laboratories for analysing spoken and written language.
