Sociology examines how people organize their lives collectively, the constraints they face, patterns in social behavior, and the causes and consequences of social inequalities. A distinctive feature of our programme, praised by external examiners and graduates, is its integration of sociological, criminological, and anthropological perspectives.Social & Public Policy addresses global challenges like poverty, inequality, housing, health, technology, and sustainability, drawing on political science, sociology, and economics to analyze government responses to societal needs, welfare, and wellbeing. Our teaching team received the 2020 Social Policy Association/Policy Press Outstanding Teaching Award for excellence and innovation, with Social Policy at Glasgow ranked joint top in the UK for student satisfaction in NSS 2019.
