Sociology studies the ways that people organise their lives together, the constraints within which they do so, the patterns of their social behaviour, and the causes and consequences of social inequalities.One of the distinctive features of our Sociology programme, commended by external examiners and by our graduates, is the combination of sociological, criminological and anthropological perspectives which we provide.Politics is the study of the way power and influence are distributed within society and how this affects decision making within and among countries and states.You will study a wide variety of topics within the discipline of politics including courses in international relations, political theory and British politics. You will have the opportunity to take part in our growing study abroad programme.
