About the course

A degree in Russian offers the opportunity to study a language of strategic global importance while exploring the depth of Russian culture. The University of Glasgow has a rich history in teaching Russian and Slavonic languages, supported by excellent resources in our dedicated language library.Central and East European Studies examines the dramatic historical changes in the region during the twentieth century, including wars, revolutions, and socio-economic shifts that continue to influence it today, from the Baltic to the Balkans. The University hosts a government-funded Centre of Excellence for these studies, featuring cultural, social, and academic events. Students may optionally pursue languages such as Hungarian, Czech, or Polish.
