About the course

The Portuguese programme at Glasgow explores the languages, literatures, and cultures of Brazil, Portugal, and the wider Portuguese-speaking world. Students engage in a varied curriculum, working in small groups with native speakers from Portugal and Brazil, supported by long-established links with the Instituto Camões and full access to the Language Resources Centre's audiovisual, digital, and printed materials.Social & Public Policy examines solutions to global challenges like poverty, inequality, housing, health, technology, and sustainability, drawing on political science, sociology, and economics to analyse government responses to societal needs, welfare, and wellbeing. The teaching team received the 2020 Social Policy Association/Policy Press Outstanding Teaching Award, and the programme ranked joint top in the UK for student satisfaction (NSS 2019). Students benefit from work placements in voluntary or public sector organisations.
