Portuguese / English Literature, MA (Hons)

The Portuguese program encompasses the study of languages, literatures, and cultures from Brazil, Portugal, and the broader Portuguese-speaking world. At Glasgow, it features a diverse curriculum with small-group sessions led by native speakers from Portugal and Brazil, alongside established ties to the Instituto Camões. Students gain access to the Language Resources Centre, which provides high-quality audiovisual, digital, and printed materials.In English Literature, students explore the full spectrum of literature in English, leveraging expertise in areas such as American, Irish, and postcolonial literatures, critical theory, creative writing, and the connections between literature and other arts, media, and sciences. They also benefit from the world-class Hunterian and Library collections, renowned for their strengths in 18th- and 19th-century works, travel literature, illuminated manuscripts, and significant single-author holdings.
