About the course

**History of Art** explores how and why paintings, sculptures, buildings, and designs in various media take their distinctive forms. Students benefit from the University Library and Archives, The Hunterian museum and art gallery—featuring the renowned Hunter, Whistler, and Mackintosh collections—and Kelvin Hall, the innovative collections-access centre. A third-year vacation grant supports visits to relevant museums, galleries, and buildings.**Philosophy** systematically addresses profound questions on knowledge, life, morality, science, and human nature through reason and argument. The department hosts reading parties in the Highlands, supports a thriving undergraduate Philosophy Society, and houses the Centre for the Study of Perceptual Experience.
