About the course

The History of Art programme explores how and why paintings, sculptures, buildings, and designs across various media evolved their distinctive forms. Students benefit from the University Library and Archives, The Hunterian museum and art gallery—home to the renowned Hunter, Whistler, and Mackintosh collections—and Kelvin Hall, the University's innovative collections-access centre. A third-year vacation grant supports visits to relevant museums, galleries, and buildings.Studying Italian introduces the language and culture of a major EU nation central to Europe's political and artistic history. Glasgow's longstanding Italian studies tradition is bolstered by excellent library resources, with small-group teaching primarily by native speakers fostering advanced fluency in written and spoken Italian.
