About the course

This course offers an in-depth exploration of Scottish Gaelic language and culture, spanning from historical eras to the present, while enhancing language skills for modern career opportunities. Students can engage with Gaelic folklore, song, modern poetry, autobiography, contemporary fiction, and drama, with additional chances to practice the language through the University’s Gaelic initiatives and the city’s dynamic community.In Central and East European Studies, the twentieth century’s dramatic shifts—marked by war, revolution, and profound social and economic transformations—created a turbulent history across the region. From the Baltic to the Balkans and Berlin to Vladivostok, key issues persist post-communism. The University serves as a hub for a government-funded Centre of Excellence in Russian, Central, and East European Studies, hosting various cultural, social, and academic events; optional language studies include Hungarian, Czech, Polish, or Russian.
