The course encompasses two primary disciplines: English Language and Linguistics, and Politics.In English Language and Linguistics, students examine the structure, meaning, and historical evolution of the English language to gain insights into culture, society, and human identity. Over the past 50 years, we have developed the world-leading Historical Thesaurus of English, a distinctive resource that maps the semantic growth of its vast vocabulary. Access to specialized laboratories for analyzing spoken and written language is also available.Politics focuses on the distribution of power and influence in society and its effects on decision-making within and between nations. The program covers diverse topics, including international relations, political theory, and British politics, with opportunities to participate in our expanding study abroad initiatives.
