English Language and Linguistics examines the structure and meaning of the English language, past and present, revealing insights into our culture, society, and identity. The BMus is a single-subject degree offering a strong foundation in core musical disciplines, with opportunities to specialize in the third and fourth years.At the University of Glasgow, we have taught English Language and Linguistics for over 75 years, led by field experts. We developed the world-leading Historical Thesaurus of English, a unique resource on its vocabulary's semantic evolution, and maintain dedicated labs for analyzing spoken and written language. BMus students receive a bursary for private instrumental or vocal tuition.
