English Language and Linguistics examines the structure and meaning of the English language, past and present, revealing insights into culture, society, and human identity. Greek studies encompass classical Greek language and literature alongside the history and culture of the ancient Greeks.At the University of Glasgow, English Language and Linguistics has been taught for over 75 years by field-leading staff. We developed the world-leading Historical Thesaurus of English and maintain dedicated laboratories for analysing spoken and written language. Greek students can visit archaeological sites and museums in Greece, with Honours students eligible for up to three weeks of fieldwork abroad. Graduates excel in language, communication, and textual analysis, pursuing careers in media, publishing, marketing, speech therapy, teaching abroad, heritage, consultancy, finance, law, accountancy, or academia.
