About the course

Economic and Social History examines how societies evolve in their economic activities and social organization, focusing on past ways of living and working and their impact on the modern world. Sociology explores how people organize their lives, the constraints they face, patterns of social behavior, and the causes and consequences of inequalities.Studying this course at the University of Glasgow allows engagement with expert faculty, a community of changemakers, and interdisciplinary connections (including languages and study abroad). Our Sociology programme uniquely integrates sociological, criminological, and anthropological perspectives, as praised by examiners and graduates. Graduates develop critical thinking, logical expression, confident communication, information analysis, independent judgment, and effective time management, leading to careers in industry management, retail/marketing/finance, government, media/IT, teaching, libraries/museums/archives, social work, city councils, development agencies, market research, data analysis, charities, activism, housing, and education.
