About the course

Comparative Literature involves the examination of literary works across cultural, national, and linguistic boundaries, as well as through various time periods, genres, and even intersections with other arts. This field can be pursued alongside diverse subjects, and pairing it with a foreign language may enhance one's global perspective.Scottish Literature encompasses the poetry, drama, fiction, and prose of Scotland from the 14th century to contemporary times. The University features the UK's sole dedicated academic unit for teaching and researching Scottish literature, including the Centre for Robert Burns Studies, which is producing a comprehensive, multi-volume scholarly edition of works by Scotland's national poet.
