Common Law, LLB (Hons)

The University of Glasgow's LLB (Common Law) is designed for aspiring lawyers in common law jurisdictions like England & Wales, Northern Ireland, Ireland, and Canada, but not Scotland. This rigorous programme provides intellectual depth with flexible options, available as a three-year Ordinary degree or four-year Honours. Over 60% of Honours students participate in our acclaimed study abroad programme, including exchanges through Law with Languages or Legal Studies at institutions in Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, plus summer schools like the Comparative Law Project.Graduates gain versatile skills for careers in civil service, journalism, banking, social work, and more, supported by a dedicated employability programme with legal professionals and GO Justice clinical projects. For England & Wales barristers, it meets Bar Standards Board academic requirements, followed by vocational training and pupillage. Solicitors in Northern Ireland qualify via Belfast's IPL; in England & Wales, via the SQE after any degree equivalent, assessments, and work experience. Additional exams apply per jurisdiction.
