About the course

Classics encompasses the literature, history, art, and material culture of ancient Greece and Rome, with Latin and/or Greek language study available at all levels. Social and public policy examines solutions to global challenges like poverty, inequality, housing, health, technology, and sustainability, drawing on political science, sociology, and economics to analyze governmental responses to societal needs, welfare, and wellbeing. At the University of Glasgow, students can visit archaeological sites and museums in Italy and Greece, with Honours students eligible for up to three weeks abroad (post-year 3) and financial support. Year 3 options include study abroad in Europe (e.g., Athens, Rome), Australia, New Zealand, or North America, plus work placements in voluntary or public sectors. Graduates pursue diverse careers in heritage, teaching, consultancy, finance, publishing, law, accountancy, museums, libraries, civil service, IT, management, policy analysis, housing, health, social services, advocacy, planning, education, media, and commerce across private, public, and voluntary sectors.
