The fall of communism sparked ongoing transformations, including rising populism, the Russo-Ukrainian War, and instability in the Caucasus and Central Asia. This course examines key issues from the Baltic to the Balkans and Berlin to Vladivostok, alongside Scottish history, exploring change and continuity in human society.At the University of Glasgow, with over 75 years of leading research, students gain insights into global challenges like the Russia-Ukraine conflict via the Centre for Russian, Central & East European Studies—a national hub hosting the Europe-Asia Studies journal and extensive library resources. Optional languages include Czech, Polish, Russian, or Ukrainian. Renowned Scottish history experts and the Centre for Scottish & Celtic Studies offer interdisciplinary study.
