Archaeology / Classics, MA (Hons)

Archaeology examines human interactions with their world through objects, sites, monuments, and landscapes, while Classics explores the literature, history, art, and material culture of ancient Greece and Rome, with Latin and/or Greek study available at all levels.At the University of Glasgow, students gain practical fieldwork skills in the UK and abroad, including excavations in Europe (e.g., Baltic states, Cyprus, Greece, Italy) and Scotland. The programme offers fieldtrips, staff research participation, placements with heritage organisations, and visits to sites/museums in Italy and Greece; Honours students receive funding for a three-week ancient world trip. Year 3 study abroad options include Europe (Athens, Rome), Australia, New Zealand, or North America. Graduates leverage transferable skills (teamwork, problem-solving, analysis) for careers in banking, law, tourism, heritage (e.g., Historic Environment Scotland, British Museum), teaching, publishing, IT, and more.
