Archaeology examines human interactions with their world through objects, sites, monuments, and landscapes. Celtic Studies integrates language learning with courses on medieval and modern Celtic cultures of the British Isles.At the University of Glasgow, students gain practical fieldwork skills in the UK and abroad, including excavations in Europe (e.g., Baltic states, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Portugal, Spain) and Scotland. The programme emphasises heritage experience, fieldtrips to sites and museums, staff research projects, placements with organisations like National Trust for Scotland and Historic Environment Scotland, and Celtic language study with leading scholars.Graduates acquire transferable skills valued in banking, law, business, and tourism. Many secure roles in archaeology and heritage with government, charities, and museums, or pursue teaching, publishing, music, entrepreneurship, and academic research.
