Archaeology examines how past societies engaged with their environment through in-depth analysis of artifacts, sites, monuments, and landscapes. Students can acquire hands-on fieldwork skills in the UK and internationally, with recent participants engaging in projects in the Baltic states, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, and Portugal. The programme prioritises practical heritage experience, including archaeological techniques and the societal value of the discipline. We offer day and residential trips to sites, landscapes, museums, and heritage locations. Additionally, students may join ongoing staff research in surveys, excavations, archives, and collections, while gaining work experience through our network of heritage and museum partners.
