About the course

Our BA in Curating offers a comprehensive foundation in art history, focusing on the history and theory of exhibition design and the impact of curatorial decisions on viewer experiences in museums and galleries. Through staff-led visits to London institutions, you will explore current curatorial trends and are encouraged to undertake placements for insight into the operations of museums, auction houses, or galleries. The programme equips you for 21st-century challenges by integrating digital skills development, such as curating an online exhibition with virtual walkthroughs and accessible interpretive materials. Additionally, access to the Essex Collection of Art from Latin America (ESCALA), Europe’s largest such collection, provides opportunities to experiment with artwork installation. You will spend your third year on a placement to gain practical work experience, enhancing your employability and building industry connections.
