About the course

Our Zoology degree equips you with the intellectual, professional, personal, and technical skills needed to protect endangered species, safeguard habitats, and enhance understanding of animals in the wild and in captivity. Accredited by the Royal Society of Biology and CIEEM, the course covers animal biology, wildlife conservation, ecology, genetics, biochemistry, and statistics. It offers tailored modules, advanced facilities like laboratories and aquatic research centres, purposeful fieldwork in locations such as Majorca and the Maldives, industry placements, and expert teaching from research-active staff. In your first year, you'll study biodiversity, ecophysiology, genetics, evolution, and ecology. Later years advance to topics like microbial ecology, habitat management, wildlife conservation, and tropical marine biology. Assessments include reports, presentations, exams, and practical work. The program prepares you for careers in zoos, environmental consultancy, or further studies, with options for a Foundation Year or Industrial Placement.
