For those interested in biology and mathematics with a desire to teach these subjects at post-primary level, this course is ideal. It integrates the study of biology, mathematics, and education from the start. In the third year, students gain practical teaching experience through placements in post-primary schools and as third-level tutors.The Bachelor of Science leads directly to a Master of Science in Mathematics and Science Education. Upon completing both degrees, graduates are fully qualified to teach post-primary Biology and Mathematics up to Higher Level Leaving Certificate, and Science up to Junior Certificate Level. This five-year, Teaching Council of Ireland-accredited program incorporates placements from the first year, including year-long assignments in two different post-primary schools during the final two years.
