Our four-year BA (Hons) in Sport, Media and Culture with a Year in Industry equips students for careers as professional sports content creators and communicators in the modern media landscape. This practical programme covers topics like sports journalism, commentary, and promotion, while exploring theoretical concepts such as fandom, national identity, and sports narratives to illustrate sport's influence on society.Students gain a comprehensive understanding of sports media through socio-cultural analysis and hands-on training in creating multimedia content, including podcasts, match reports, and promotional strategies. Taught by industry-experienced academics with access to advanced facilities and partnerships with organisations like Swansea City FC, the course emphasises employability via placements, practical modules, and coursework assessments, fostering skills in storytelling, production, and audience engagement.
Our sports media and culture modules will explore how sport is framed in the media, whilst also providing an insight into the way that sport, sporting culture and journalism has shaped the cultural life of contemporary Britain and the world. Not only will these modules give you a robust grounding in theory, but you will also be offered the opportunity to put this theory into practice with authentic assessments and practical opportunities.
