The 4-year MSci Psychology degree builds on the established BSc programme by adding a research-intensive final year, culminating in a master’s qualification. This course provides rigorous scientific training in the interplay between the mind, brain, and behaviour. In the first three years, students explore psychological and neuro-scientific processes, including cognition, memory, language, brain injury effects, and strategies for enhancing health behaviours. The final year offers advanced modules tailored to individual interests, along with options for a Level 7 research internship involving data collection, meta-analyses, or secondary data analysis, leveraging the School's internationally renowned expertise.The programme, validated by the British Psychological Society, boasts a strong research profile, with 100% of its impact rated internationally excellent (REF 2021). Students engage in modules across cognitive, social, developmental, and biological psychology, culminating in an independent research project. Teaching includes lectures, seminars, workshops, and practical classes, emphasising research skills and teamwork. Graduates achieving a 2:2 or above gain eligibility for BPS Graduate Membership and the pathway to Chartered Psychologist status. This course does not confer Qualified Teacher Status.
