Our LLB Law in Practice with Politics is a four-year programme that integrates a comprehensive law curriculum with studies in British and international politics, public policy, and related fields. It provides a strong foundation in core legal areas such as public law, contract law, and tort, alongside over forty optional modules. The third year features a paid internship in a legal setting, offering hands-on experience and essential skills development, while the final year allows for fully customised learning.The programme equips students for legal careers, meeting requirements for the Solicitors Qualifying Exams and Bar training. It includes experiential learning through advocacy, mooting, and clinical education, supported by excellent facilities like a Law Clinic and court rooms. Assessment varies, including exams, essays, client advice letters, and group tasks.
"Years 1 and 2 consist of the core areas of a law degree, with the option to select some of your own modules in year 2. Compulsory modules are studied by all students on the programme, meaning you are automatically enrolled. Examples of compulsory modules include: • Public Law • Law of Tort • Contract Law • Legal System and Skills Year 3 (Level S) will be spent at a paid internship in a legal setting. You will take the internship module (LA-S000) and be assessed throughout the year and receive an overall module mark with feedback for each element. If the mark attained for your placement year (Level S) is not to your advantage (i.e. does not improve your overall weighted average) then it will not be counted towards your overall degree classification. Year 4 consists entirely of optional modules allowing you to shape your own learning, with over thirty to choose from.
