About the course

Our specialised LLB degree in business and commercial law prepares students for dynamic careers through a comprehensive 4-year programme. It delivers a strong foundation in core legal areas, with a paid internship in the third year providing hands-on experience in legal practice. Students develop key research, analytical, and communication skills, while selecting business-focused modules such as trade law, employment law, and media law. Supported by our Employability Team, this structure enhances career prospects and aligns with pathways to professional qualifications like the Solicitors Qualifying Examination or Bar training.Swansea's Law School, ranked 12th in the UK for Teaching Quality and top 150 globally, offers core modules in years one and two, including Criminal Law and Contract Law. Year four focuses on optional subjects like Commercial Sales and LegalTech. Assessment methods are diverse, encompassing exams, essays, client advice letters, presentations, and group tasks, fostering well-rounded skills.

What you will learn

Years 1 and 2 consist of the core areas of a law degree, with the option to select some of your own modules in both years. Across Years 1 and 2, you will study: • Criminal Law • Equity and Trusts • Law of Contract • Law of Tort • Legal System • Property Law • Public Law • Skills for the Study of Law Year 3 (Level S) will be spent at a paid internship in a legal setting. You will take the internship module (LA-S000) and be assessed throughout the year and receive an overall module mark with feeback for each element. If the mark attained for your placement year (Level S) is not to your advantage (i.e. does not improve your overall weighted average) then it will not be counted towards your overall degree classification. Year 4 consists largely of optional modules allowing you to shape your own learning. We have a wide range of optional modules, which include: • Commercial Sales • Foundations in LegalTech • Employment Law • Media Law • World Trade Law
