Biochemistry, BSc (Hons), with study abroad

Biochemistry plays a vital role in studying and treating diseases, developing pharmaceuticals, and understanding environmental interactions. This BSc programme explores chemical processes in living organisms and cellular functions at subcellular and molecular levels, providing deep insights into biochemical mechanisms across bacteria, plants, animals, and humans.Students hone project management skills, experiment design, and work planning through coursework. In the final year, participants undertake an independent research project supervised by expert scientists, utilizing state-of-the-art facilities at the Medical School, including DNA/protein analyzers, image processing tools for molecular/cellular studies, and advanced supercomputing. Faculty engage in diverse research, complemented by seminars from Swansea University staff and external experts from academia, industry, the NHS, and institutions. Graduates are prepared for careers in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, agrochemicals, and food industries.
