About the course

Discover how to navigate the complexities of property economics and transform cities for the better with QUT's Bachelor of Property Economics. As one of the few specialised property courses available in Australia, this course will provide you with the knowledge, job-ready skills, and practical work experience needed to excel in the property industry. Throughout this course, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the property industry, covering key topics such as investment, asset management, development, valuation, and research, with an emphasis on finance and the commercial property market sector. You will also learn about sustainable development and environmental and energy efficiency in all forms of property. Throughout your studies, you will be exposed to a range of concepts essential to determining, developing, and managing the built environment. By delving into disciplines such as building, construction management, planning, business, and property economics, you will understand how these areas work together to achieve a balanced, cost-effective, and sustainable built environment. Finally, as an added perk to this course, you'll also have the opportunity to visit commercial and retail properties, and some of Brisbane's most prominent buildings. Through these excursions, you'll witness firsthand how the theories you learn in class can be practically applied. Engaging in exclusive tours and interacting with on-site property managers will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of property management and the day-to-day operations of these properties.

Work integrated learning

Real-world learning is embedded in this course.  During this course, you will encounter Work Integrated Learning (WIL) projects informed by industry throughout your studies, and you will have the opportunity to complete a WIL placement in an elective internship unit. This hands-on experience will enable you to apply your theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios and equip you with the transferable skills and essential work experience required to enter the workforce confidently. You will have the opportunity to work with industry-leading organisations and workplaces that offer great networking prospects and provide valuable insights into your future career prospects.
