About the course

This course integrates practical skills with academic study, offering a paid work placement in the third year to apply learned concepts and gain professional insights, providing a competitive edge in the job market post-graduation. Extracurricular opportunities abound, including an award-winning pro bono scheme, mooting club, vibrant student law society, international summer schools, and social events, enabling full engagement in law school life.We pioneered the first Law Sandwich degree in 1968 and maintain strong legal industry connections, with our Employability team assisting in securing paid placements. Students often use this experience to clarify career paths and enhance employability, earning a Diploma in Professional Practice upon successful completion. While placements are not guaranteed, support is provided, and alternatives like the full-time LLB (Hons) Law course are available if needed. Key advantages include paid placements, mooting expertise, society involvement, advanced facilities, and pathways to qualifications like the Solicitors Qualifying Exam or Barristers Training Course.

What you will learn

We are a leading provider of work placement courses and pioneered the first Law Sandwich degree in 1968. Over the years we have developed strong links with the legal profession and our dedicated Employability team will help you to find a paid placement in a suitable environment. Many of our students find that a work placement helps them to decide what sort of career they want to pursue and provides the experience that future employers are looking for. Successful completion of the placement year will also lead to the award of a Diploma in Professional Practice alongside your degree. While a placement can’t be guaranteed, our Employability team has considerable experience in finding opportunities. You’ll be required to apply for and pass the employers’ selection procedures. If you do not manage to secure a placement you can transfer to the LLB (Hons) Law (full-time) course.
