The world is confronting unprecedented environmental challenges that endanger plants, animals, and humans. This course explores ecological principles, the natural world, and conservation strategies through the study of community and ecosystem ecology in various habitats, plants, and human interactions. It emphasizes practical solutions via lectures, practicals, and fieldwork, preparing students for careers in ecology and conservation.The curriculum covers plant, animal, and land-use ecology; organism conservation; habitat management; environmental impact assessments; and global food security. Students gain essential skills in species identification, environmental law, and Geographical Information Systems (GIS), while addressing social and economic dimensions of environmental issues. Optional modules allow specialization in the final year, alongside a dissertation. Modules span foundational topics in Year 1, applied skills in Year 2, and advanced studies in Year 3. Assessment focuses on coursework (67-83%) and written exams (17-33%).
