This course delves into contemporary theatre and live performance design, encompassing set and costume creation, construction, digital technologies, lighting, site-specific projects, puppetry, heritage installations, and community-focused design. Delivered by experienced staff and technicians with extensive professional and academic expertise, it fosters collaboration through memberships in the Performance Design Education Collective (PDEC), Society of British Theatre Designers (SBTD), and International Organisation of Scenographers (OISTAT). Students benefit from innovative facilities, joint projects with artists across disciplines, industry partnerships like the Royal National Theatre, study visits, competitions, international exchanges, and high rankings in UK art and design guides, with 100% student recommendation.Assessment is entirely coursework-based, providing ongoing feedback and grades. Graduates secure roles as designers or in production with organizations such as English National Opera and National Theatre, or freelance on global projects in film, TV, festivals, and community arts. NTU supports creativity through dedicated workspaces and showcases student work via 'We Are Creatives'. Modules span introductory design, contextual research, exploration, and professional practice across three years.
