About the course

Biomedical engineering is a diverse and rapidly evolving discipline. At Nottingham Trent University, our program collaborates closely with industry to prepare students for rewarding careers, emphasizing hands-on teaching and real-world experience. Our innovative MEng course, which integrates undergraduate and master's-level modules, adopts a revolutionary approach through practical projects drawn from industry and medicine. Students address current health challenges by developing materials, processes, and devices for disease prevention, treatment, and patient rehabilitation. Key areas include biomaterials, bioinstrumentation, biomechanics, medical imaging, rehabilitation, and cellular, tissue, and genetic engineering.Developed with partners like Speedo, PepsiCo, IET, and GlaxoSmithKline, the curriculum dedicates significant time to applying theory in live, industry-led projects, with opportunities for a year-long UK or international placement. Housed in our state-of-the-art Engineering building equipped with 3D bio-printers and brain-computer interface systems, the program fosters essential skills. Accredited by the IET for Incorporated Engineer registration and partial Chartered Engineer requirements, it aligns with the CDIO framework, promoting project-based learning in conceiving, designing, implementing, and operating real-world systems.
