This course explores the animal kingdom through core scientific principles, including anatomy, physiology, behaviour, genetics, ecology, and nutrition, providing a solid foundation in animal biology. It emphasizes companion and livestock species, with practical animal handling in specialized facilities to support theoretical learning.Modules span three years: Year One covers Animal Physiology, Husbandry, Behaviour, Nutrition Principles, Reproduction and Genetics, and Health and Disease. Year Two includes Disease Investigation, Applied Breeding, Physiology of Behaviour, Research Skills, Nutritional Health, and Cognition and Training. The Final Year features Applied Nutrition, Anthrozoology, Adaptive Physiology, Animal Genetics, and a Dissertation. Assessment methods are: Year One (50% coursework, 33% written exams, 17% practical); Year Two (50% coursework, 17% exams, 33% practical); Final Year (83% coursework, 17% exams).
