A degree in Urban Planning provides a vital opportunity to address global urban challenges, including climate change, rising sea levels, population growth, and economic shifts. This course equips students with essential skills to tackle economic, social, and environmental issues, drawing on diverse expertise from leading practitioners. It emphasizes digital and data skills for smart cities, alongside practical experiences like live case studies and field trips, to bridge theory and real-world application. Students explore historical urban development while proposing innovative visions for healthier, sustainable cities, benefiting from a multidisciplinary approach in the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering.The BSc and MPlan programmes share the first three years, with transfer possible based on performance. The BSc focuses on foundational principles of spatial planning and placemaking for career readiness, while the MPlan includes advanced study in specialist areas like transport planning or smart cities analysis, culminating in an integrated project. Assessment combines coursework (75%) and exams (25%), fostering skills through individual and group work.
